From Gossip Girl to Broadway

Former Gossip Girl, Leighton Meester, has had a very exciting year thus far. Between her upcoming Broadway debut quickly approaching and her recent engagement to boyfriend, Adam Broady, things seem to be coming up roses for Meester. This doe-eyed actress starred as Blair Waldorf, an Upper East Side socialite, in the CW series “Gossip Girl” from 2007-2012, creating a massive fan base for herself. Other attributes to her success include parts on the HBO hit Entourage, with Adrian Grenier and the Fox series 24, starring Kiefer Sutherland.
The 27 year old actress will be co-starring with David Franco and Chris O’Dowd in the Broadway rendition of “Of Mice and Men,” with special previews beginning as early as March 19th 2014. The official opening of the production will not be until April at the Longacre Theatre in New York. This will be the first time in over 30 years that the famous John Steinbeck novel, turned Broadway production, will be in the theatre. David Franco will play the part of a migrant farm worker, entranced by this beautiful woman, set in an era fraught with despair and longing for a better tomorrow. This is a bit of a more serious role for Meester, which will only make her a more well rounded actress.

Born to a mother who was in prison at the time of her birth for drug trafficking offenses, Meester has paid her dues and climbed her way to the top. Starting out as a model, in New York City, Leighton Meester quickly made a success of herself and now will be a part of American history. Who would have thought that Blair would be on Broadway! Leighton Meester definitely has what it takes to capture an audience, even playing the part of a farm girl during the great depression. With such a great cast and director bringing this epic, historical tale of survival into the lime light, once again.
